This accessibility statement applies to www.smisby.org.uk/smisby-parish-council-home-page

This website is not run by Smisby Parish Council, and as such we are not responsible for the website layout, only the data contained within our section. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

  • zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
  • navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
  • navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
  • listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)

We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand. AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability

We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible:

  • some older PDF documents are not fully accessible to screen reader software
  • there is low contrast between foreground and background colour

Non-accessible content

New documents we publish should be accessible.

We know that some of our older are not accessible. For example, some of them:

  • are not tagged properly - for example, they do not contain heading structure
  • contain images without a textual description
  • include complex tables

This mostly applies to these document types:

  • Meeting minutes and agendas
  • Financial reports
  • Statutory guidance
  • Forms

Disproportionate burden

Low contrast between foreground and background colours

As the website is not owned by the Smisby Parish Council we are unable to alter the style it has been created with.  We believe trying to do so now would be a disproportionate burden within the meaning of the accessibility regulations.

Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

PDFs and other documents

The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they’re not essential to providing our services.  As our documents are available in other forms upon request, we will not be fixing these.

Any new PDFs or Word documents we publish will meet accessibility standards.
